Application expenses
Check this box if you incurred job search expenses.
You can deduct any expenses you incurred in connection with the job application process. These include, for example:
- Expenses for passport photo
- Photocopies
- Quick binders, clear covers
- Postage
- Official certifications
- Writing paper,
- Books or computer programs on the subject of applications and introductions
- Travel expenses to the interview
- Costs for job advertisements
- Weekend editions of national daily newspapers that are known for a large job market, e.g. the FAZ or the Süddeutsche Zeitung.For example, the FAZ or the Süddeutsche Zeitung
Financial officials are often a little more generous with application costs, however, as far as the burden of proof is concerned. Thus, many tax offices also accept a lump sum. However, you have no right to such a lump sum.
