(2021) What is the advance flat rate for 2020?

For the year 2020, the following applies: The BMF announced a base interest rate of 0.07 percent, calculated by the Deutsche Bundesbank as of 02.01.2020 based on the yield curve data. 70 percent of the base interest rate is 0.049 percent. The withholding tax of 25 percent is then applied to this amount, plus solidarity surcharge and, if applicable, church tax. This amount is to be taxed as an advance lump sum in 2021 (BMF letter dated 29.01.2020, IV C 1-S 1980-1/19/10038).
