If the tax refund is to be paid out to some other person, the tax office also requires a declaration of assignment (Abtretungserklärung).

Note 1: For the bank account information, a European IBAN is required. If an IBAN from Switzerland, San Marino or Monaco is indicated, the BIC must also be indicated. The tax authorities currently do not allow the indication of an IBAN/BIC outside the European payment area (SEPA). If you do not have a corresponding account, please do not provide any information on this page and contact your local tax office.

Note 2: If you do not want to provide bank details, you can simply leave the fields blank. However, refunds are generally paid out by the tax office in non-cash form. If you do not provide your bank details, the tax office will ask for your bank details, and it will take longer until you have your refund on your account. If you do not have bank account details, the tax office will send you a cheque to the address provided.
